More about the book:
Maaza Mengiste’s novel, Beneath the Lion’s Gaze, from W.W. Norton, is the epic tale of a father and two sons in the wake of Ethiopia’s revolution, a subject close to the author, who was born in Ethiopia. In a starred review, Publisher’s Weekly calls Mengiste’s novel a “striking debut,” and Claire Messud’s Bookforum review called it, “an extraordinary novel, which assembles a dauntingly broad cast of characters and, through them, tells stories that nobody can want to hear, in such a way that we cannot stop listening.” (www.maazamengiste.com)
