DEBUT LIT’s 2010 fall events will kick off in New York as part of the Brooklyn Book Festival’s “Bookend” series.
On Friday, Sept. 10, DEBUT LIT will host a new writer showcase with five authors who have first or second books out.
The writers will read two-page original work on the evening’s theme, “Opening Act,” at 7 p.m. at powerHouse Arena located at 37 Main Street in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood.

- Brooke Berman, No Place Like Home from Random House
- Aryn Kyle, Boys and Girls Like You and Me and best-selling The God of Animals both from Scribner
- Matt Stewart, The French Revolution from Soft Skull Press
- Sung J. Woo, Everything Asian from St. Martin’s Griffin/Thomas Dunne Books
Maaza Mengiste, debut author of Beneath the Lion’s Gaze from W.W. Norton will MC.
Books by the authors will be available for purchase, and a signing will follow.
This event is free and open to the public.
